Ellie

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Young-at-heart, senior girl Ellie knows that the secrets to happiness lie in sharing your joy and love with everyone you meet; savoring quiet times with your family and friends; and enjoying your ride through life. Ellie has also figured out that you must choose your outlook on life, and her pick is to embrace it with such loving gusto that she inspires everyone around her to feel the same. If you would love a companion who enjoys nice long walks, companionable sit-downs on the porch to watch the world go by, playing some games together, and, at the end of the day, cuddling up on the couch, enjoying a nice belly rub, and settling in to watch your favorite TV shows, then our Ellie is for you. Sweet Ellie is a down-to-earth bundle of love who is low maintenance and happy to go with the flow. This serene lady is secure enough in her own skin that traveling around and hanging out with her favorite stuffed toys is no problem for her. Blessed with a sensitive, kindly heart, Ellie knows how to support her canine brothers and sisters in times of need. When she senses that one of her friends is scared or nervous, Ellie’s got their back and will help them through by showing them how to overcome their anxieties. She’s all heart, this girl! This quintessential sweetheart of a dog will add a calming serenity to your life and, when those soulful, liquid brown eyes of hers meet yours at the end of a long day, you’ll know that you are home, and that you are loved.

Gouda

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Who wouldn’t want to add an extra helping of sweetness, joy, and love into their lives? Well, if the answer to that question is “Me, I would!!”, then we have the girl for you! Gorgeous Gouda, a long-time resident at Francisvale, is an undiscovered treasure. She is outgoing, affectionate, and playful, loving to get her belly rubbed and to play chase with her balls. She is sure to bring a smile to your face as she companionably relaxes with you, sunning herself on the windowsill and happily accepting treats from her best friend. Gouda is laid-back and easy-going…just look into those mesmerizing green eyes, and you can see that she epitomizes the ideals of peaceful contentedness and living in the moment. When you come to Francisvale, ask for Gouda by name. She tends to be a bit shy when people come to visit at the shelter, and she hides her light under a basket. But, if you give Gouda a chance to shine in a home of her own, you will be delighted with the beautiful little soul you selected. When it comes to unconditional love, Gouda is tops!

Tippy

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Tippy was part of a feral cat colony that was endanger of being poisoned by some people in her neighborhood. Fortunately one of our volunteers was able to rescue her and two of her friends from the scary situation. Tippy is a special girl that is going to need a very patient and loving home. She is starting to come out of her shell and is getting use to being around people. She now comes down from her perch and cryies for her breakfast. She may not come up for hugs and kisses yet, but with a loving cat saavy person her whole world could open up. She feels very comfortable in the company of other cats and would do great in a multiple cat household. Tippy loves to sleep and cuddle with her friend Beauty.

Sophia

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Hi! I’m Sophia and I’m looking for a fun home to call my own. I love to run and play. Give me a chest full of toys and I will have fun all day long! I am also a very good companion. I love to follow all the staff members around while they do their work. I can’t help it, I’m just curious and love the company! I get picked on a lot from some of the cats here at the shelter.  I don’t know why. I guess when your a little quirky and a bit nerdy you get picked on…even in the cat world. I am keeping my paws crossed that I will be able to go to a home where everyone loves me and I can leave these cats behind. Can you help the nerdy girl become the Belle of the Ball?

* Sophia wouldn’t mind living with another playful cat.

Penelope

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Hello there, I’m Penelope. I’ve been at the shelter for quite a number of years. I was dropped off as a stray. I’ve seen my friends come and go and it’s starting to affect me just a bit. I’m patiently waiting my turn, but some days it’s harder to be optimistic. When I first came here things were a lot different. I was in a cage 20hrs a day and it wasn’t very easy to make friends or become trusting. Once the shelter changed it’s policies and we were out all day, I had to readjust again. It was very overwhelming to be surrounded by people and cats of all different personalities. My first response was to be on the defense. I didn’t want anyone coming too close to me, so I chose to spend most of my time hanging up on the cat trees. It gave me the opportunity to see what what going on in the room. I took  my time making friends. Sometimes I would swat at people if they spent too much time petting me. I just got overwhelmed so quickly. Now my tolerance has definitely gone up and I enjoy having people come over and spend time with me.   I’m pretty sure once I’m in a home and comfortable that I am with a family that loves me and is not going to abandon me, I will become a very important member of the family.  I know I can do it, I just want someone to come and give me a chance. I’m tired of feeling sad every time I get looked over for adoption.  I hope there is someone out there that will give me a chance. If you love me, I will love you in return.

*Penelope would be o.k. with older children that have had experience with cats.

Willow

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Winsome Willow will steal your heart away with her hypnotizing green eyes and the ying and yang of her lush black and white coat. Like the ancient willow tree, our girl is gracefully lithe and a delicate beauty. But that exterior belies a strength that has withstood great adversity. Spending her early years on the streets, Willow learned the value of flexibility and adaptability. Then, fortune shone down on her, and she came to reside at Francisvale. Over the years, this savvy girl has come to enjoy the great indoors. She shares her love with gentle rubs up against your legs, appreciates yummy treats, and keeps a watchful eye on the world outside her window. Willow will blossom with a tender, sensitive guardian who allows her to relate in her own time and space. Let Willow find her way with you, and your life will be all the better for it.
